December 03, 2009 - A Shiner Named Sioux High Score of the Day at NRHA Futurity

A Shiner Named Sioux and Jay McLaughlin

A Shiner Named Sioux, owned by Carol Rose, and Jay McLaughlin rode into the third section of the NRHA Open Futurity and scored a 222 to take the high score of the day A Shiner Named Sioux and McLaughlin currently lead the Level 1 Open Futurity Prelims.

October 21, 2009 - Shining Spark Becomes First and Only NRCHA $3 Million Sire

Shiners Lena Dust
At the 2007 National Reined Cow Horse Association Snaffle Bit Futurity, Shining Spark made history as the first NRCHA $2 Million dollar sire when his offspring won enough during the event to propel him past that milestone. Now in 2009, two years later, his talented progeny did it again – and he became the association’s first $3 Million Sire before any other horse could reach the $2 Million mark!

November 21, 2009 - Shiners Lena Dust AQHA World Champion - JR Reining

Shiners Lena Dust The Junior Reining class at the 2009 FedEx Open AQHA World Championship Show was significant for four reasons. First, it was the final class of the mammoth 15-day event. Second, Duane Latimer and Shiners Lena Dust (Shiners Lena Doc x Hollywood Sure Stop x Pines Fourway Stop) claimed the World Championship after posting a 222.5. Third, Shiners Lena Dust was draw one in the finals and is the very first foal ever born by Shiners Lena Doc, owned by Carol Rose and standing at Carol Rose Quarter Horses.

September 27, 2009 - A Shiner Named Sioux Wins Reining Prelims at SBF

A Shiner Named Sioux and Jay McLaughlin The National Reined Cow Horse Association's premiere triathlon event - the Snaffle Bit Futurity - completed the second leg of Open preliminary competition Thursday evening.
For the second year in a row, Jay McLaughlin found himself atop the preliminary rein work leader board. This year McLaughlin was riding A Shiner Named Sioux, a palomino stallion by Shining Spark and owned by Carol Rose.

August 23, 2009 - A Shiner Named Sioux Dominates SWRCHA Futurity

A Shiner Named Sioux and Jay McLaughlin
For the second straight day, a horse owned by Carol Rose and ridden by Jay McLaughlin, Gainesville, Texas, won the main event by topping a Reserve Champion ridden by Texan Boyd Rice as the Southwest Reined Cow Horse Association Summer Classic concluded on Sunday, Aug. 23, in Ardmore, Okla.

August 23, 2009 - McLaughlin & CD Dee Vee Dee Take Home Top Prize at SWRCHA Derby

CD Dee Vee Dee out of Shiners Missy Jay
McLaughlin won the Open Derby with CD Dee Vee Dee (CD Lights x Shiners Missy Jay X Shining Spark) by scoring a 440.5 to earn $6,027, with Rice a close second on 2007 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Champion Oh Cay N Short (Oh Cay Quixote x Bit Of Shorty).

Taking the top spot in the Open Rein Work was Jay McLaughlin, who piloted CD Dee Vee Dee (CD Lights x Shiners Missy Jay x Shining Spark) to a high score of 223
